Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, joined Laura Smith, MPP for Thornhill; Maurizio Bevilacqua, Mayor of Vaughan; Rose Savage, Chair of the Vaughan Public Library, representatives of the YMCA (GTA) and many others to celebrate the opening of Vaughan’s flagship YMCA.
The new facility features a Vaughan Public Library branch as well as a large swimming pool, fitness area, culinary learning and a youth zone. The YMCA will also offer licensed, not-for-profit child care by highly trained and registered early childhood educators. MPP Lecce highlighted the Government of Ontario's $2.5M contribution to support the creation of the child care center, providing affordable options to working parents in the community.
“Today is a great day for Vaughan families and seniors, as we open this state-of-the-art community hub,” said MPP Lecce. “Our government is proud to have invested in the YMCA's new child care center, offering affordable options to working parents. Vaughan's YMCA will improve the lives of Vaughan residents for generations by making it easier for people to embrace healthier lifestyles, support learning, and continuous development of our youth.”
