On August 22, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, joined Premier Doug Ford at Centennial Park in Etobicoke to mark 35 years of Ukrainian Independence as Russia continues its illegal war against Ukraine.

"As the war on Ukraine rages on for its fourth year, ae pledge full support to ensure Ukraine is free from Putin’s treacherous war,” said MPP Lecce. "I am always inspired by the courage and fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people. Our Premier and government are united behind supporting Ukraine, from protecting Ukrainian families fleeing war to deploying generators that keep the lights on during the harsh winters. We will always stand with Ontario's Ukrainian community — which means standing for freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. One of my greatest achievements in my former role ss Minister of Education was mandating learning on the Holydomar, to ensure students learn from history the perils of communism, authoritarianism, and unchecked evil.”
