Petition: Reinstate Mandatory Minimum Sentences

Recently, our community was shaken by another senseless murder. We mourn the loss of Aleem Farooqi — a family man and respected business and community leader from Vaughan, killed while defending his wife and kids from an armed home invader.

This is an unimaginable tragedy for the family and for the community. Unfortunately, it is one of many cases of families being victimized by violent criminals in their own homes. Only two weeks ago, a father was charged defending his home from a violent repeat offender.

Enough is enough.

To stem the tide of this senseless violence, we are calling on the federal government to immediately reinstate mandatory minimum sentences for violent crimes like this — leading to unavoidable jail time and consequences.

The message should be clear to any offender: if you commit a violent crime, you will face serious jail time.

For Aleem's family and for every victim seeking justice, we can't afford to wait.

Sign this petition now to defend law-abiding families, and keep violent criminals behind bars, where they belong.
