On November 11th Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, joined local dignitaries, including representatives from the York Regional Police, RCMP, and King Fire and Emergency Services at the Schomberg Remembrance Day Ceremony. The event included a CC130 J Hercules fly-over in honour of the late Colonel Susan Beharriell, a former King City resident who was at one time the highest-ranking female officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.
“I was incredibly moved by the fly-over to honour the late Colonel Susan Beharriell, a King City resident and veteran who spoke to over 80,000 students about service, duty and moral courage,” said MPP Lecce. “Today, we honoured all of our veterans who served in defence of Canadian values, security and freedom. The torch of remembrance lives on in Schomberg.”
