MPP Lecce Tours Progress of New Long-Term Care Home in King City

Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, joined the President and CEO of Universal Care, Joseph Gulizia, to tour progress on the St. Rita at Mary Lake Long-Term Care home under construction in King City. MPP Lecce has worked closely with Universal Care over the years, including in the construction and delivery of the long-term care home and in supporting CIBPA Place — York Region’s First Dementia Respite Care Centre — through the annual Strides for Seniors fundraising run. 

"When I was first elected in 2018, King had the lowest resident-to-bed ratio in Ontario — an unacceptable reality reflective of previous governments leaving this community behind,” said MPP Lecce. “We’ve made significant progress on building the first new long-term care home in King in over half a century — which will deliver over 160 net-new beds for local seniors. With the opening set for early next year and construction on another long-term care home in Vaughan starting this year beside the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, our government is embarking on a historical transformation of how we care for the greatest generation."
