On March 15th, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, hosted David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and members of the Filipino community for a roundtable discussion at his constituency office to discuss strategies to get young people and newcomers working in the economy. The discussion centered around relieving the burden on working nurses in Ontario and speeding up nursing accreditations to relieve nursing shortages.
“Nurses perform an incredibly important service in our province’s health care system, and our government is taking action to ensure our province has the nurses it needs for families and seniors,”” said MPP Lecce. “In addition to hiring thousands of new nurses and building two new medical schools, we are working hard to ensure foreign credentials are more quickly recognized so the brightest minds from abroad can work and make a difference right here in Ontario. I thank Minister Piccini and members of King-Vaughan’s Filipino community for a thoughtful and productive roundtable discussion as we work to get our young graduates and immigrants better jobs."
