On November 25th, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, and Ontario’s Minister of Education, spoke at a commemoration in Toronto hosted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress for the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor. Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow also attended.
“90 years ago, Joseph Stalin and the evil Soviet empire killed millions through starvation in the Holodomor; throughout history, the Ukrainian people have battled against communism and tyranny,” said Minister Lecce. “As Vladimir Putin continues to wage his illegal war in Ukraine, our government is proud to support the spirit and culture of Ukraine by funding a mobile classroom that will visit schools across the province to teach students about the Holodomor, and about the dangers of extremist ideologies like Marxism-Leninism.”
