On July 24th, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, joined friend and colleague MPP Vijay Thanigasalam at the 39th Year Remembrance of Black July 1983 Anti-Tamil event in Scarborough. MPP Lecce laid a rose in remembrance of the victims of the 1983 state-sponsored anti-Tamil “Black July” riots in Sri Lanka.
“I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Canada’s Tamil community in the defense of human rights, freedom, and democracy,” said MPP Lecce. “We will never forget the atrocities of the Black July riots and the innocent victims who perished.”
