MPP Stephen Lecce Delivers Nearly $ 3.4 Million for an Estimated 336 IVF Cycles in Vaughan
MAPLE — Today, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, announced the Ontario government is helping more couples and families access life-changing fertility treatment through a $3.4 million investment in the Vaughan-based Generations Fertility Clinic. This investment will enable an estimated 336 IVF cycles for couples to start a family and is part of the Ontario’s government’s plan to expand access to fertility care as part of its historic $250 million investment to help more families access life-changing fertility treatment. Through this next phase, the province is investing $100 million in 2026/27 to support 27 clinics across Ontario, helping to shorten wait times and connect thousands of families to fertility services in both hospital and community settings.
“For too long, young couples in our community have dreamed of starting a family but have faced long waits and unaffordable costs, and that ends today,” said Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan. “To support mothers and families, Ontario is delivering nearly $3.4 million investment to help 336 couples start a family in our community. Our government has invested $250M to triple the number of families accessing services like IVF, IUI, and fertility preservation, in addition to launching a $5,000 tax credit to cover out-of-pocket expenses for treatments, medications, and testing. This announcement is not about the money, it is about delivering hope, because no matter the circumstance, everyone deserves the special chance at parenthood.”
Following a Call for Applications, Generation Fertility in Vaughan has been approved as part of this investment in 2025/26 and received $997,565 to provide an estimated 103 IVF cycles. In 2026/27, Generations Fertility received $2,396,894 in funding to help 233 additional families access publicly funded IVF services—bringing to the total amount to 336 families.
"At Generation Fertility, our commitment has always been to give every patient the very best chance of becoming a parent, and this investment from the Ontario government allows us to reach hundreds more families in our community,” said Dr. Michael Hartman, Medical Director, Generation Fertility. “Behind every IVF cycle is a hopeful future that might not otherwise have been possible."
This investment builds on the government’s initial $50 million investment in 2025/26 and will support clinics to deliver an estimated 10,000 additional IVF cycles in 2026/27. A further $100 million will be invested in 2027/28, bringing the province’s total investment to $250 million.
“There’s no role more special or important than being a parent, which is why our government is shortening wait times by making fertility care more accessible for thousands of Ontarians,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will help more Ontarians receive publicly funded IVF services where and when they need them, while protecting the Ontario Fertility Program.”
Through Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the Ontario government continues to strengthen the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP) so patients can access high-quality fertility care when and where they need it, closer to home.
"Ontario's fertility decline is accelerating, and the Ontario Fertility Program is helping remove barriers to care for families across the province,” said Heather Stark, CEO, The Fertility Partners. “Through our network of clinics, The Fertility Partners is committed to expanding access, improving outcomes, and delivering best-in-class care when and where patients need it. Generation Fertility Vaughan brings that mission to life in this community, helping more families access treatment closer to home."
QUICK FACTS
With the OFP expansion, the program now funds 56 Ontario clinics that provide publicly funded fertility services, including IVF, intra-uterine insemination (IUI), and fertility preservation (FP).
Since the launch of the OFP, funding has been provided to nearly 133,000 Ontarians to help them build their families.
Many OFP funded IVF clinics have satellite locations where patients can receive cycle monitoring, bloodwork and ultrasounds at smaller clinics closer to home.
The province will be requiring all publicly funded fertility clinics under the OFP to be accredited by Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum Global program by April 1, 2028, ensuring consistent quality standards across the province.
The new refundable Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit, started in the 2025 tax year, builds on Ontario’s existing Medical Expense Tax Credit, offering further financial relief to couples and individuals in their journeys to start or grow their family. The credit provides a maximum of $5,000 in annual support by covering 25 per cent of eligible fertility-related expenses up to $20,000. These expenses, include IVF cycles, fertility medications, travel for treatment and diagnostic testing and must be for goods and services provided entirely within Canada.
