On September 22, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan and Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Mines, delivered remarks at the International Tritium Conference in Ottawa where he announced a new agreement for Ontario to supply 100% of the United Kingdom's tritium to the UK Atomic Energy Authority. Tritium is a key fuel used for nuclear fusion energy generation.
"We are exporting Ontario's nuclear advantage to the world," said MPP Lecce. "Ontario currently operates the world's largest tritium processing facility at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. I am proud to announce that Ontario is doubling down on the next generation of emission-free nuclear energy by investing in the development of Fusion technology and supplying 100% of the UK's tritium needs — all using Made-in-Canada technology."
