On November 22, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, attended the Holodomor Commemoration Ceremony hosted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress as he has done every year since being elected in 2018. MPP Lecce delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of Ontario. In his former capacity as Minister of Education, Minister Lecce mandated Holodomor education into the curriculum, and later as Energy Minister, he deployed millions of dollars of equipment and generators to help protect the grid and ensure heat through the winter, following Russian bombardment of civilian infrastructure.

"Up to ten million Ukrainians perished at the hands of Stalin's death famine known as the Holodomor—a wicked communist ideology that must be repudiated from Western society today," said MPP Lecce. "We remember those lost by standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine as they again bravely fight for freedom against another genocidal tyrant. Slava Ukraini!"
