On October 9, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, hosted Trevor Jones, Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness, at Haven Greens in King and Robintide Farms in Vaughan to showcase local farms as part of Ontario Agriculture Week.
Haven Greens uses a fully-automated greenhouse to produce leafy greens and both Ministers joined to mark that Haven Greens is now fully sold out, at 100% capacity. They also recently secured a significant supplier contract with all Ontario based Costco stores, for the first time.
Robintide Farms specializes in agritourism, encouraging visitors and families to pick their own produce from the ground. The fall season is when they bring out their signature pumpkin patch — especially popular with the kids.
"It was great to host my friend Minister Jones this Ontario Agriculture Week as we toured Haven Greens and Robintide Farms — two incredible local farms in King and Vaughan," said MPP Lecce. "We visited these family-owned farms -- still succeeding in this community, and pledged to continue to fight for Canadian farmers and producers in the ongoing tariff battle with the US. These farms produce the most nuturious, sustainable, and quality Canadian food products, which is why we were excited to mark a significant milestone for Haven
Greens as they grow at home, and reach new markets across Canada and the world."
