On June 19, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, represented the Government of Ontario at the official groundbreaking of the Flight PS752 Memorial at Unity Park in Richmond Hill. The provincial government dedicated $350k to support the development of this memorial, which commemorates the lives lost in the tragic downing of Flight PS752 on January 8, 2020 by the Iranian Regime. 85 Canadian citizens and permanent residents were killed, including those from York Region.

"Six years ago, our community was shaken by the downing of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752," said MPP Lecce. "This memorial, supported by our government, will honour the lives lost in that senseless tragedy caused by the Iranian regime. We will forever remember the passengers that never made it home."
