On September 13, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, attended an awards reception hosted by Benjamin Forestier, a Grade 9 student from Kleinburg who is the Team Lead for the 'Kids Helping Kids Sleep Out' fundraiser. The fundraiser raises funds for Covenant House Toronto a registered charity that serves youth facing homelessness.
"Nelson Mandela once said 'The Youth of Today are the leaders of Tomorrow'—and I am a firm believer that no one is too young to make a difference," said MPP Lecce. "I was inspired by Benjamin's story and his commitment to helping youth facing homelessness, so I made sure to come by and recognize the incredible work he is doing with a certificate and flag from Queen's Park—the seat of our democracy. It was amazing to hear of the more than $100,000 raised last year, with Benjamin setting an even more ambitious goal this year of $500,000. This is the drive and determination we need to make a real difference in our community—so to that Benjamin, I say: thank you."
