On August 21, Stephen Lecce, MPP for KingVaughan, joined the UJA Federation and local families for the official opening of the Honey and Barry Memorial Arena and the renaming of the Wood Valley Park to the Honey and Barry Memorial Park, in honour of Honey and Barry Sherman. The arena is built as an extension of the existing Schwartz-Reisman Community Centre in Maple. In attendance were Jonathan and Laura Sherman as well as former Toronto Maple Leafs and current Edmonton Oilers player Zach Hyman.

"This space is more than a physical arena to support athleticism and competition  it's a space that brings people of all faiths and heritage together under a common mission," said MPP Lecce. "Honey and Barry Sherman were the ultimate example of nation-builders. To their son, Jonathan, and to everyone who believed in this project: I want to say thank you for modelling the way as proud Canadians. Now more than ever, we will resolutely stand with the Jewish community in the fight against the scourge of antisemitism."
