On August 23, Stephen Lecce, MPP for KingVaughan, joined Premier Doug Ford for the 34th Ukrainian Independence Day at Centennial Park in Etobicoke. In 2024, MPP Lecce attended the Rebuild Ukraine Conference in Poland, where he announced Ontario would be providing nearly $5 million in energy equipment to Ukraine including critical equipment for the electrical grid itself, such as transformers and replacement materials.

"It was an honour to join Canada's Ukrainian Community to mark their 34th Anniversary as a proud independent nation," said MPP Lecce. "After gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the Ukrainian people are once again in the front lines  fighting for their language, heritage, and sovereignty against Putin's merciless war machine. We will continue to make clear around the world that nation's can continue financing Putin's war by buying dirty oil and gas from Russia or choose democratic Canada's clean energy and nuclear technology. Slava Ukraini"!
