NOBLETON — Today, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, joined King Township officials for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new Senior Room at the Nobleton Arena, delivered by the Ontario government through the Seniors Active Living Centre Program (SALC). MPP Lecce strongly advocated for the establishment of a new Senior Room in Nobleton, successfully delivering $72,000 in start up and operating funding for this year followed by $55,000 in subsequent annual funding.

“As the Member of Provincial Parliament for King—Vaughan, I am proud to deliver the new Senior Room at the Nobleton Arena — a dedicated space offering exciting programs to keep our seniors engaged, active, and connected to their community,” said Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan. “After delivering funding for the King City Seniors' Centre in 2021, I ensured seniors in Nobleton benefited from enhanced programming and a dedicated space. Keeping our seniors healthy and socially connected is a top priority for me, which is why the Mayor, Councillor Boyd, and I worked tirelessly to make this space possible."

SALC programs offer seniors and older adults learning opportunities such as financial management and elder abuse prevention and a variety of recreational and social activities including fitness, healthy lifestyle and wellness classes that are important supports in communities. The Nobleton senior room will offer programming for local seniors through fitness, culinary, and art workshops.

“We are delighted to expand activities and services to more seniors in King and Vaughan,” said, Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “This program will help older adults of all abilities to thrive in their homes and communities.”

This is one of the up to 100 new SALC programs opening across the province this year to help improve seniors’ quality of life and build community engagement. Senior Active Living Centres keep our seniors fit, active, healthy, socially connected, in their communities and close to their homes.

The government remains committed to better supporting Ontario’s aging population and the people who care for them by improving and expanding supports for seniors no matter where they live.
