On February 1, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, joined Vijay Thanigasalam, MPP for Scarborough—Rouge Park and the province's first-ever elected Tamil MPP for a graduation ceremony for Tamil students taking classes on Tamil heritage, culture, and language to conclude Tamil Heritage Month.

"I came here to say congratulations to all the students in Grade 8 and 12 who are graduating today and have achieved something special," said MPP Lecce. "Many of your parents came to Canada with nothing more than the desire to work hard, to dream and to hope — which is why implore every young person to believe in yourself and never give up. Congratulations, Valttukkal!"
