On July 6 and 7, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan and Minister of Energy and Mines, joined Premiers Ford and Smith in Calgary to unveil a proposed route for the new Northern Shield Energy Corridor that will transport crude oil from Alberta for refinement in Sarnia, Ontario—which will directly link to existing energy and shipping infrastructure. Proposed pipeline extensions to new and existing ports also create new opportunities to bring Canadian oil to tidewater and to markets around the world.

“Canada was built by pioneers who dreamed big. Sir John A. Macdonald’s vision of building a railway 'from sea to sea' unified a nation,” said Minister Lecce. “While in Calgary for two days, Team Ontario made clear that it’s time to build — new pipelines, mines, refineries, and nuclear power — with the same determination. We will bestow future generations an inheritance of freedom, opportunity, and self-reliance as we finally unlock Canada’s full potential and promise.”
