City of Vaughan identifies location as Province of Ontario provides land for a future community centre in the Kleinburg-Nashville neighbourhood

“The Kleinburg-Nashville neighbourhood is growing, and families have long been asking for a dedicated community centre for them and their kids to enjoy. I’m proud to say: we’re making it happen,” said Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan. “I am grateful for the strong partnership with Mayor Del Duca and Minister Sarkaria — and to the entire community for rallying behind this vision — as we deliver a legacy project for generations to come.”

Earlier today, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council, Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for King—Vaughan, the Hon. Stephen Lecce and Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, the Hon. Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, joined community members to officially announce that a new community centre will be coming to the Kleinburg-Nashville area – an exciting milestone for the

residents of Ward 1.

The Province of Ontario announced the transfer of nine acres of provincial surplus lands to the City of Vaughan, valued at approximately $24 million, for a nominal fee to help facilitate the future Kleinburg-Nashville Community Centre.

Located at 10220 Huntington Rd., the future Kleinburg-Nashville Community Centre will be the first community centre built to serve the rapidly-growing neighbourhood – as a place for families to gather, connect and make memories.

This announcement builds on the strong partnership between Mayor Del Duca and MPP Lecce that worked together to deliver key investments for the Kleinburg-Nashville community and families across the City of Vaughan including:

• A new York Regional Police substation in Kleinburg

• A new Family Recreation Area opening at the North Maple Regional Park this summer, made possible by a combined $26 million investment from the City of Vaughan and Province of Ontario.
