On November 23rd, Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan, delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of Ontario to commemorate the Holodomor genocide perpetrated by the Soviet Regime on the Ukrainian people in 1932-33. MPP Lecce attended the event days after returning from the Rebuild Ukraine Conference in Warsaw, Poland.
"As we remember the millions of Ukrainians who tragically lost their lives at the hands of the evil Stalinist regime, we see all too well the parallels of history between the 1930s and Vladimir Putin's barbaric invasion of Ukrainian sovereignty," said MPP Lecce. "To my friends in the Ukrainian Community: I want you to know that our government's and our Premier will continue to stand with you during this ongoing assault on your language, culture, identity, and land — as we provide the Ukrainian front lines with $5 million worth of critical energy equipment that will keep the lights on and families warm this winter. Slava Ukraini!"
